Kevin-Prince Boateng has declared his move to AC Milan is a dream come true.

The former Portsmouth midfielder has joined Milan on a season-long loan after signing with Genoa this week.

The Ghana star explained why he is so excited about playing for the Rossoneri: "Wonderful Milan are the future of football.

"The greatest football teams are multi-racial and the Rossoneri history is unique, together we can win everything."

He added: "In the past my idols were Zinedine Zidane, Rivaldo and Ronaldo. And now I get to play with my hero Ronaldinho.

"I play a little like (Rino) Gattuso. I can be tough, but I also can be golden."

BaldwinCountyNow.com Launches Community First

Posted: 18 Aug 2010 10:16 PM PDT

As part of our guiding philosophy of "Community First," Gulf Coast Newspapers introduces what no other news media outlet can offer ... a network of community based newspapers positioned throughout Baldwin County with editorial staffs, local writers and history. "Garnering this strength, we intend to build a network of participation by inviting chambers of commerce, non-profit groups, museums, parks and preservations, service organizations, public and private schools, schools of instruction, and churches to become Community First partners. These groups will have uncensored access to  www.BaldwinCountyNOW.com to post stories and announcements important to them ... at will and 100 percent free," said Bill Atkinson, Director of Online Media and Audience Development.

"If a chamber has a ribbon cutting, they can promote that member business immediately on the web, in detail, with multiple photos of not only the ambassadors' group, but also the owners. They can use this to encourage memberships. Churches can post sermons, church events and announcements. Non-profit groups can post information that will help further their efforts, recognize their volunteers or just about anything," Atkinson added. "We're going to give them an open channel of communication to their communities through their newspaper online. Something they've never had before because of 'white [paper] space' limitations."

What Makes A Community First Partner? Your Organization Does!

Chambers of Commerce will post chamber related news in their respective categories found under the main heading, News From Our Chambers. There are sub-categories specifically setup for the five respective chambers in Baldwin County.

Schools and Churches: Public and Private Schools and Churches can post news under their "community newspapers" categories for School News and Church News.

Chambers, schools and churches may also post stories in the Baldwin Living and Baldwin People sections of the website.

Non-Profit Organizations and Service Organizations: The two sections of the site where these groups can post stories and events are Baldwin Living and Baldwin People. There are a myriad of categories to choose from, again, depending on the subject matter.

Gulf Coast Newspapers publishes The Daphne Bulletin, The Fairhope Courier, The Independent (Robertsdale), Spanish Fort Sun, Elberta-Lillian Ledger, The Foley Onlooker, The Baldwin Times (Bay Minette) and The Islander (Gulf Shores and Orange Beach) as well as a host of VISITOR publications.

If your organization is interested in becoming a Community First Partner, click the link below and complete the form.

Two-day LEAN training course for health care to take place at Henry Ford Health System

Posted: 19 Aug 2010 03:04 AM PDT

19. August 2010 05:50

The Henry Ford Production System LEAN training for health care takes place Sept. 16-17, 2010 at Henry Ford Health System

The two-day course is a didactic and hands-on introduction to LEAN management philosophy and manufacturing-based work rules and tools designed to prepare physicians, administrators, and technical support staff for the realities and potential successes of practicing in a LEAN environment. The sessions are not only oriented to laboratory medicine but also adapted to the processes encountered in clinical services as well.

The concept of focusing on design of work, across silos of control, according to defined rules of change and design as practiced in the manufacturing industry is very pertinent to all in healthcare. The challenge for leaders is to adapt these successful approaches, which engage the entire workforce, to our unique environment in healthcare.

Henry Ford has been doing that across the laboratories of the Henry Ford Health System through our Deming-inspired culture- the Henry Ford Production System. This approach is now being adopted in the clinical services of its Transplant Institute, Operating Room Services, Outpatient Clinics, Cardiac Surgery and Behavioral Services. The practical experiences over four years, especially the challenges and leadership required to change to that culture, are shared in the two-day LEAN training course.

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe and implement effective process improvements based on manufacturing base production principles
  • Adopt unique measurement tools based on the scientific method of data collection to identify and analyze defective processes in surgical pathology laboratories
  • Select leadership and organizational structures for successful transformation to implement LEAN as a continuously learning, evolving and improving workforce culture
  • Manage empowered teams of 'expert' workers
  • Understand how new technology can be adapted to promote and sustain LEAN concepts of work

The program consists of 15.5 CME hours of education class-time.
