Arrington has been teaching in Anderson School District 5 for 29 years. She taught in the general classroom at Nevitt Forest Elementary School. Then, she taught in the elementary music classroom at Concord, Midway, and Whitehall Elementary schools. She is a national board certified teacher, and has been awarded nearly $80,000 in grant monies for special projects for her students.

During her teaching career in Anderson, she presented at local, state, national and international conferences on topics of service learning, grant writing, and implementing standards and assessment. Her passion for service-learning led her to her dissertation topic: "The Effects of Participating in a Service-Learning Experience on the Development of Self-Efficacy for Self-Regulated Learning in Third Graders in an Urban Elementary School in Southeastern United States."

She has taught more than 3,000 elementary students in Anderson County School District 5, supervised numerous student teachers, and has instructed over 300 teaching candidates through 15 years as an adjunct faculty member at Anderson (College) University.

She is retiring from the school district this year to pursue a professional goal of teaching full-time in a university setting. She has accepted a position as assistant professor of education in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Georgia Southern University beginning in the fall.
